What are we instilling in the Next Generation of Girls?

My Mommy and Daddy didn’t raise no fool, but apparently some of my peers are letting their daughters play innocent and girly, but possibly detrimental video games.  Now yes I do not have kids so “I won’t understand until I do”  blah blah blah!    I know a bad idea when I see it and I can promise you that I would not raise a daughter on the video games in this article I came across on Huffington Post earlier.

Apparently Tween girls are the new shoe-in gaming demo (pun intended).  Videos games built on shopping, dating (at the age of 12!!!!!!!!!!!!!) cooking, playing house and working (well if you define clicking a button to run errands for a magazine like entry-level job working).  I mean no one young girl would want to play a video game that actually made her earn her imaginary living, like writing and article for the magazine, or editing the grammar in once correctly right?  (Has anyone even tried? – I won’t go into the grammar and spelling issues I see these days).

Basically the synopsis of this article “Tween Girl Video Games” is about Hilary Reinsberg, the journalist, playing the games and making observations that THEY ARE HORRIBLE!  …..and I couldn’t agree more.   In the game Modern Girl you can basically shop the club for your latest boyfriend who is either a bouncer or DJ – based on what gifts he can buy you to advance in the game (again all with a press of the button).  Kissing boys to get them to be your boyfriend…gosh, sounds like a title for a game called Whoresville and society is letting their daughters run for mayor.

It’s shit like this that will send women packing back to the Bloomers age.  Get your act together parents! Video games may seem harmless, but your kids should be willing able and wanting to earn their own livings by 18 or after college and YES YOU ARE A PART OF THAT!  Be a part of the inspiration and knowledge of them to want, not the failure by enabling!
